Utah Safety Management Council, What’s in it for Me?
By Terry Smith, Safety Director, Utah Trucking Association
The Utah Safety Management Council is the safety organization within the Utah Trucking Association. Its purpose is to promote safe trucking operations on our nation’s highways and to advance the level of professionalism of its membership.
The Council is made up of safety personnel from the Utah Trucking Association member companies. The council meets at a luncheon every first Thursday of the month (with the exception of May & July) at the UTA office at 11:00 am to discuss issues of interest to its membership. The Council makes sure that the luncheon programs are conducted with education in mind.
The Safety Management Council is very involved with the Annual Utah Truck Driving Championship, Driver Appreciation Week, as well as honoring drivers and their companies at the Annual Driver Awards Banquet and several other outreach programs.
The Council also works with UTA membership across Utah to make sure they receive the information the trucking industry is concerned about especially regarding safety and reducing accidents, and that we are doing something positive about it.
Do yourself and your company a service by joining the Utah Safety Management Council and make a commitment to improving your company, your employees, and yourself.
Membership is $110 per person per year and is open to all companies and allied members of the Utah Truck Association. Give your safety personnel in your company the opportunity to network and make friends with other safety, enforcement and government individuals attending the luncheon. It will be well worth their time once a month. If you have any questions, contact Terry Smith at (801) 973-9370 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
