Road Rally 2016: Telluride, CO
By: UTA Staff
The annual Utah Trucking Road Rally always promises to be a good time, and this year was no exception. With the best people in the industry, the ride broke the norm by extending the invitation to include cars with the motorcycles and having an overnight ride to Telluride, Colorado.
The Northern Utah group met at the Utah Trucking Association building where they were fed a delicious hot breakfast sponsored by Quality Tire’s generosity.
Once done with their meal, the group headed out from the UTA building to beautiful Moab, Utah to meet up with the Southern Utah group for lunch where the definition of a “hotdog” was challenged by Oh My Dog’s catering. These were definitely gourmet hotdogs, smothered in all kinds of tasty combinations to satisfy any palate. DATs Trucking was kind enough to sponsor this delicious lunch.
From Moab, the combined group enjoyed a splendid ride to Colorado through the beautiful canyons as the fall leaves were on full display, showing the peak of their autumn glory.
Just a few minutes after the group arrived at the grand Peaks Resort & Spa, we were enveloped in a near whiteout of snow – pretty to look at, but thankful to not be driving in it.
The incredible dinner was held at the resort with nearly a 360-degree view of the stunning vistas (now lightly blanketed in white) surrounding the spot. Our thanks to Pride Transport for their generosity in sponsoring the dinner.
The group enjoyed a raffle drawing with enough prizes for everyone thanks to the donations from Quality Tire, DATs Trucking, Progressive Reporting, Double D Distribution, Cummins, McLeod and many others.
Some of the riders stayed in Telluride the next day taking advantage of the gondola lift to town, and enjoyed the quaintness of Telluride, tucked away in the picturesque San Juan Mountains, showing their best side in reds, yellows, and oranges.
With the success of this year’s ride, preparations are already underway for 2017’s event. We love the comradery that comes out of this event and others and hope to continue the tradition of friendly business associations within our membership. We offer our thanks to everyone who attended and to those who keep up this great tradition.
