1st Annual Autumn Invitational Shoot
Utah Trucking Association and North American Trailer hosted the first annual Autumn Invitational Shoot with the help of TAB Bank, Val & Julie Stokes, and Utility Trailer Sales of Utah as sponsors. There was a great turnout with 54 total shooters – between the short planning time …and it being right in the middle of the deer hunt, it was a fantastic first year!
The shoot was held at Wasatch Wing & Clay in Cedar Fort – a stunning location with wide open fields tucked up in the hills near Eagle Mountain with a charming rustic feel. Down a dirt road well off of the main road, it felt quite secluded. The shooters were even treated to the occasional pheasant sighting during the tournament.
The course was beautiful and challenging. It was everything a fall shootout should be including hot chocolate and pastries.
Individuals were grouped into teams of four to compete for both the top shooter and the top combined team score. Mostly though, participants came to enjoy each other’s’ company outdoors before the last bit of good weather before the snowfall.
North American Trailer generously provided the prizes for the top teams as well as the first, second, and third place prizes to the top individual shooters. The third place team prize went to the Ritchie Bros. team, second place went to the Granite Construction team, and first place went to the Francis Trucking & North American Trailer team.
The first place team got their name engraved on the traveling trophy and will be able to display it proudly until it is claimed at next year’s tournament.
The individual third place winner was K-leb Poulsen from Granite Construction, second place was Keith Ward from Quality Tire, and first place went to Shane Francis from Francis Trucking who shot 46 out of 50 targets! Congratulations to all of the winners!
After the sporting clays tournament finished, the group was treated to a wonderful meal from Sean’s Barbeque while awards were given to the top shooters and raffle prizes were called. After lunch, the group moved out to the skeet trap and lined up for an Annie Oakley Shootout – a fun “sudden death” kind of game.
North American Trailer also generously provided two C-Z Redhead shotguns to the top male and female shooters in the Annie Oakley Shootout. The top male was Keith Ward from Quality Tire and the female winner was Crista Francis from Francis Trucking who is happy to not have to share a gun with her husband, Shane, anymore. Congratulations to all of the winners from this year’s tournament!
Utah Trucking Association and North American Trailer can’t wait for next year’s Autumn Invitational Shoot and look forward to making this an event for the whole family to enjoy! So plan on bringing your relations and friends next year (with more wives and daughters participating to give Crista some competition…)!
