Rustin Walker, Director of Safety, L.W. Miller Companies, Inc. – L.W. Miller Companies announces the retirement of Reed Baldwin and want thank him for more than 30 years of service to the transportation industry. Reed began his career in trucking when he received his chauffeur’s license at age 16 and began hauling grain for his uncle. He moved onto other companies and drove truck throughout college. A year after he graduated from Utah State University his wife helped him realize that it was probably time to start using his finance degree and leave the seat of a truck.
A few years later Reed received his CPA and worked away from the trucking industry until 1990 when Ted Miller approached him and asked if he’d like to get back into trucking. Reed joined the Miller Brothers Company as the VP and General Manager of what later became E.A. Miller. In 2009 JBS bought the company and Larry Miller quickly reached out and offered Reed an opportunity to join the L.W. Miller Companies as the Transportation Manager.
Reed made many great contributions to L.W. Miller Transportation, Inc. including bringing new business and a host of drivers who followed Reed over from his E.A. Miller days. Reed said what he’ll miss the most is the association with great professional drivers, customers, carriers and the Utah Trucking Association. He believes this industry is about the people and did all he could to help those around him be successful. Reed will be missed at L.W. Miller Companies but we wish him well in retirement as he chases his grandkids around to ball games and activities. Good luck Reed!
